A remix that I created ("Power to Strike" featuring Clarence Simpson) for ccMixter's 'Strike the Root' event was included in an amazing project by Dom Pates called Rootmap: a remix journey.  It is sooooooo flippin' cool.  Okay, how to describe it... I'm gonna quote the website to help:

For this project, I took a remix event from the ccMixter community ('Strike The Root', about political corruption) and mapped the dispersal of contributions that followed the first upload. I used Google Maps as the primary tool for tracing the global distribution of these remixes.

The resulting soundmap operates as a means of tracing the spread of an idea - the 'journey' of the brief - and offers an alternative approach to the linear format of a CD or a playlist for listening to a collection of songs.

Please check out the Rootmap... it's such an innovative way to experience music.  I'm kinda blown away by the concept.

Hey, hey.  Lots going on right now in my personal life... BUT!  There's a project going on at ccMixter that I HAD to do... the 61 Moons Project.  It's a remix project of Ghost Kollective.  And so... I wrote some lyrics, recorded some vocals, and cut up some music stems.  Here it is... raw and dark, baby.  Hope you dig.

Derivitive work of "Love Letters - Schipul Love Fest 2011" by Schipulites

Here’s the second track of the Kara Square ukulele love song solo album.  I posted the stems (vocals, ukulele, banjo, and guitar) on ccMixter at the beginning of the month.  Meanwhile, I continued to tweak this demo version.  Following the demo, I've included some of my favorite ccMixter remixes so far.  It never ceases to amaze me how a song can take on so many different forms... styles that I personally and naturally wouldn't even imagine.  It delights me to no end!  It's like, the possibilities are magically realized!  At the end of this blog post, you'll see a "Read the lyrics..." link... so, you know, you can read the lyrics if you wanna.  I hope you dig!
